Over the past three decades Sandro Nocentini has drawn, painted and sculpted a very large body of work, far more than can easily be accounted for today. Systematically documenting the production of artworks is only a relatively recent practice in his career and the location of the paintings sold along the years is only known by the galleries that have represented him. However, throughout these thirty years of professional art making, Nocentini has fortunately chosen not to exhibit all of his works. Some pieces have remained deeply personal, never exhibited but kept within his own collection - these works are now witnesses of his artistic growth.

Now the time has come to bring together an exhibition where Sandro Nocentini’s earlier and more recent works can be seen side by side. Included will be paintings and sculptures from the early 1990s, created when his artistic language was still strongly influenced by his motherland, Italy, alongside new works that reveal a deeper connection with his adopted home, Australia. The journey is evident in the exploration of colour, moods and subject matter, moving from solitude to celebration, from intimate reflections to scenes of fatherhood and a need for being the voice of a multifaceted community.
